Heraklion - Matala Hippie Beach Tour

Heraklion - Matala Hippie Beach Tour

Discover with us one of the most famous beaches of Crete island , Matala beach , a paradise of the Hippies movement. Back in the late 60's - 70's this peaceful location was the colony of the "flower children" , who lived in the caves that used to be Roman tombs. We definitely visit this carved on the steep rocks of the area monument, enjoying at the same time the crystal waters, the warm sun and the cretan hospitality.

Matala has their place also in Greek Mythology. It is the place where Zeus, according to myth, having taken the form of a bull, swam ashore with Europa on his back before dragging her in the nearby Gortys with its marvelous Archaeological Site.

The beach extends over 300 metres, with light golden sand and bamboo umbrellas and sun beds available for relax and admiring the colourful view.
