Knossos, the largest and most renowned palace of the Minoan civilization, and a focal point of ancient myth. Tales of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur, along with
the legend of Daedalus and Icarus, are deeply intertwined with its history. Continuously inhabited from the Neolithic period to Roman times, the palace
reached its peak before being partially destroyed around 1450 B.C.
Preveli Palm Beach is a remarkable and one of the most wonderful beaches of Crete Island , as it offers relaxing and pleasant time under the shadows of the palm trees.
Join us on an unforgettable trip to Gramvousa and Balos!
We start by driving west across the island, making our first stop in Skaleta, near Rethymnon. Here, you will have some time to enjoy coffee or breakfast before we continue to Kissamos, where our boat journey begins.
The boat ride to our first destination takes about an hour. Along the way, we see a fascinating cave, which was likely an ancient shipyard. We also witness a rare natural phenomenon—one side of the island is rising while the other is sinking. The western side has risen between 6 and 9 meters above sea level!
Our first stop is Gramvousa, also called the “pirates’ island.” This area is home to over 100 bird species and 400 plant species, making it one of the most important natural habitats in the Eastern Mediterranean. You can visit the famous Venetian fortress of Gramvousa, built in 1579, which stands high on a rock. If you climb to the top, you will be rewarded with an amazing view. After exploring the area, you can swim in the crystal-clear waters of the beautiful beach or enjoy lunch on the boat.
In the early afternoon, we continue to Balos Lagoon, one of the most stunning places in Greece. Its breathtaking beauty is often compared to the exotic beaches of the Caribbean. You will have around 3 hours to relax and enjoy this paradise—an experience you will never forget!

Join us on a trip to Matala, one of the most popular and unique beaches in Crete, located 68 km southwest of Heraklion. This beautiful seaside village is near Phaistos, the second-largest palace of the Minoan Civilization. According to Greek mythology, this is where Zeus, disguised as a bull, brought Europa before taking her to Gortys. Over the centuries, both Minoans and Romans used Matala as an important harbor.
But for many people, Matala is all about hippies! In the 1960s and 1970s, this small town became a famous hippie paradise. The caves carved into the cliffs, once ancient Roman tombs, became homes for the "flower children", who found peace and freedom by the sea. Some caves even have stairs, beds, and windows, showing that they were used as shelters.
Today, Matala is the perfect place to relax on the golden beach, swim in the crystal-clear waters, and enjoy a meal by the sea. Afterward, you can explore the historic caves and take in the breathtaking views of the coastline. Moreover, you can take a stroll through the village with the traditional architecture, the colourful houses and the local shops.
Discover the magic of Matala – a place of history, myth, and free spirit!
